Drake Vs. Common (The evolution of the hip hop battle)

So I get online one day and here Drake sneak dissing Common, and it got me to thinking where have hip hop battles gone??? In the early 2000 era it was Nas v. Jay that set the tone, and even before then Common v. Ice Cube. It seems like now these new artists want to come in the game claiming they have “made it” and saying people (who have been in the game for years) have taken their style. Like the Big Sean and Luda scenario. Luda has sold records out the ass, who is Drake (who has been getting bold lately) or Big Sean to claim a style. Hip hop is the most style jacking genre in music there is… So the ones who do come in with a unique flow, trust me its gonna get jacked by a new artist sooner or later…

Seeing that Common is a legend, mabe the best pure MC from Chicago not named Kanye West, im surprised, yet glad he came at Drake. Allegedly Drake was messing with Serena when her and Com was dating, and Marvin’s Room was influenced by the situation, so Com makes a song about Drake on his album, Drake replies via twitter and sneak diss and Com gets on a remix and calls Drake’s name and other personal stuff. I love it, somebody needs to show the young cats, some who think they have already made it that its not that easy to procalim to be “the greatest” especially when you have plenty of open wounds people can take shots at…

With that being said Drake did outsell Common, which nowadays doesnt mean a whole lot. Com had a better “hip hop” album and things move on, BUT if this is what 2012 is gonna be somebody else needs to start battling and hopefully great tracks follow….
